32nd MOSCOW INTERNATIONAL OPTICAL FAIR (MIOF)

The 32nd Moscow International Optical Fair MIOF, the meeting place of the leading distributors of global brands of medical optics and ophthalmology with representatives of wholesale and retail, was held February 14 through 16, 2023 at Crocus Expo. 

EXPOSITION

More than 100 companies from Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, China, India, Turkey and Russia participated in the spring edition of the trade fair. Over 3000 specialists attended the exhibition, which once again emphasized the significance of the event in the optical segment of the market.

All segments of the industry were demonstrated within the frames of the exposition. Visitors learnt about new collections of medical frames and sunglasses for the 2023 season, new ophthalmic diagnostic equipment, software for optical salons, accessories for optics. They got acquainted with modern technologies for vision diagnostics, as well as sophisticated design solutions in the production of frames.

Belutti, Moi Ochki, Optic Market +, OptiFlex, Optichesky Mir, Escont Optics, Spunky Studio, Oliver Wood and many others presented their own products and products from well-known European brands displayed by the leaders in the production of optics from Italy, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and other countries.

Alhemer Optic presented a new brand Tattva, representing a combination of technological solutions and premium materials with handmade work and fashion outside of time.

The visitors expressed special interest for the products of the Twinz (Armenia)company - handmade designer wooden frames. Optika Euro displayed new La strada models, New Line - collections from ENNI Marco, Mario Rossi and other European brands for every style and suitable for any occasion - from classics to modern design trends. Stax unveiled stylish fur-trimmed cases and flannel-lined leather cases.

Kriptomed presented a unique development of the Istok-Audio Group of Companies – the VISION hardware and software complex intended for expert diagnostics of subjective and objective visual acuity using classical tables and infrared videonystagmography technology. Specialists who select equipment for equipping ophthalmic rooms were definitely interested in the new model of the auto-ref keratometer Single LTL, which analyzes the curvature of the cornea and calculates the eye refraction. 

FASION SHOWCASE AND PHOTO ZONE

This year's MIOF fashion showcase displayed 60s classics, oval metal frames and coloured plastic frames.

A photo zone, representing a light installation of the abbreviation of the trade fair, was also presented within the frames of the fair. The exclusive design project of the photo zone had been developed by the partner of the exhibition - the design studio of Svetlana Krutalevich Krutalevich Interiors.

GOLDEN LORGNETTE NATIONAL AWARD

The Awarding ceremony for the winners of the Golden Lorgnette Award was traditionally held on the first day of the fair. The organizers of the contest were MIOF Management Office and Market Assistant Group. Russian companies, joint ventures and representative offices of companies from abroad, registered and conducting main activities in Russia and operating in the market of optical goods and services, as well as participating in the MIOF trade fair, were nominated for the Award.

Organizations and companies from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Perm, Makhachkala, Cheboksary and Chita became the winners of the Award. A competition for young designers Prodesign Frames, organized in partnership with the International promotion and advertising technologies festival ProMediaTech was for the first time held as part of the main program. The contestants presented their own design interpretation of glasses and frames. The winners were Maya Burnasheva (St. Petersburg) and Sergey Tanas (Moldova).

BUSINESS PROGRAM

The exposition was accompanied by a rich business program organized by the MIOF Exhibition Management office and the Market Assistant Group. The Educational and Business Forum featured events of various formats: seminars, training courses, presentations and etc. Effective practices of increase in sales, the latest innovations in lenses manufacture, methods of identification of customer needs in new eyewear products and the latest methods of patient’s examination were presented to the audience.

Over the years of its operation the Moscow International Optical Fair had rightfully earned high reputation at the professional community.

Participation in the trade fair provides a unique opportunity to present a company and products to a distinctly selected targeted audience of industry specialists, to learn about the latest developments and the novelties from global manufacturers available on the Russian market.

31st MOSCOW INTERNATIONAL OPTICAL FAIR (MIOF)

The 31st Moscow International Optical Fair (MIOF), a significant business event for the optical industry of Russia, was held September 13 through 15 at Crocus Expo.

To date MIOF is considered to be the largest national platform and meeting place for the leading distributors of global brands of medical optics and ophthalmology with representatives of wholesale and retail trade. The exhibition provides an opportunity to come to learn about the latest trends and innovations of the industry, make a balanced decision on procurement, establish new business contacts and conclude mutually beneficial agreements. MIOF is more than ever the key moment of the year for the eyewear and optics world. It is also the place where the brands and the opticians meet tomorrow's business and their future success.

EXHIBITORS

Exhibitors presented to visitors a wide range of perspective developments in all areas of the industry including fresh design solutions: eyeglasses fashion (frames and sun glasses), eyeglass and contact lenses, care means for medical optics, diagnostic equipment, software for salons of optics, various accessories, trade equipment for opticians, specialized optical editions and many other things.

Participants of the MIOF autumn edition were more than 70 companies from abroad (the Republic of Belarus, Russian distributors of products from Great Britain, Israel, Italy, China, France, Austria and South Korea) and from 10 Russian regions (Moscow, Krasnodar, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Crimea, Voronezh, Ryazan, Rostov-on-Don, Vladimir, Volgograd). Well known at the Russian market brands were among the exhibitors: Optic Dias, Megapolis, Inveco, Rodenstock RUS, Balero-MC and others. Kriptomed successfully exhibited products for the first time at the trade fair.

BUSINESS PROGRAM

Dedicated and dense business program was traditionally held alongside with the exposition. The specialists obtained new knowledge on a wide range of thematic sections when attending the calendar of events. The sciences of vision have progressed a lot in recent years thanks to the numerous research works and innovations made in the materials. This new knowledge has led to significant changes in the methods of correcting vision defects, prescriptions and the development of equipment.

VI SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL CONFERENCE ON CHILDREN'S OPHTHALMOLOGY AND OPTOMETRY KIDS VISION

VI scientific and practical conference on children's ophthalmology and optometry Kids Vision was held on the first day of the trade fair September 13. 

One of the most significant events became the lecture Routing Features of Patients with Rare Genetic Diseases Aniridia, Albinism, WAGR and Hermansky-Pudlak Syndromes made by Gening G. N., Ph.D., Member of the Board of Directors and Vice President of Aniridia Europe, Representative of Russia at Aniridia-NET (COST), President and member of the Scientific Committee of the ISP ICPBA Raduzhka.

Report BBGR Breakthrough Triad made by Balan A. V., Rx Lens Head, MOK BBGR caused intensive interest at the attendees.

B. Batrakova, President NAO MOO, held a seminar Main Activities for the Formation of a Healthy Lifestyle.

The interim results of the charity action Glasses for Children with Rare Genetic Diseases which formed the integral part of the Kids Vision project were traditionally announced at the conference.

BUSINESS FORUM

Business Forum was held September 14. Report Myopia as a Social Phenomenon: Causes, Consequences, Solutions made by Kondratova S.E., ophthalmologist, researcher at the Research Institute of Pediatrics and Child Healthcare of the Central Research Bureau of the Russian Academy of Sciences, chief doctor of the Center for Optical Correction of Vision Akademoptika, became one of the key events of the forum. 

Publishing house Optical MAGAZINE organized a presentation of the A. Fedoruk's book Master Optician Training.

GOLDERN LORGNETTE

It was also announced about the commence of applications acceptance for the national tender on participation in the contest for the Russian National Award Golden Lorgnette 2023 in the optical industry for achievements in the field of new technologies promotion, sight protection and professional service of the population, which would be culminated by the Awarding Ceremony within the spring edition of the trade fair. The exposition of the spring edition of the trade fair was formed by companies from all over Russia and four countries (the Republic of Belarus, India, Canada and China). The Gala ceremony for the winners of the National Award in the optical industry Golden Lorgnette was traditionally held within the frames of the spring MIOF edition.

An educational seminar Menicon. 70 Years of Expertise in Vision Correction. Practical Solutions for the Development of Optics devoted to the anniversary of Menicon brand became the key event of the program. The seminar had been initiated and organized by Novalex company. Menicon is the only manufacturer in the world that is dedicated to all areas of contact lenses-related business including material development, lens designing and manufacturing of contact lenses and care solutions. The specialists learnt about myopia controlling methods and about the most recent data on methods of eye protection and visual correction, studied various types of lenses and special aspects of their application.

Besides experts told about the latest methods of optical business, innovations in an optical salon management, key steps at optics startup; correction selection algorithm; fashion and style trends in optics and more.

The 29th Moscow International Optical Fair (MIOF), a significant business event for the optical industry of Russia, was held September 14 through 16 at Crocus Expo.

Suppliers and manufacturers of medical optics and equipment products from all over Russia and foreign countries (Armenia, Canada, China, and the Republic of Belarus) presented modern developments and new optical products: glasses, lenses, professional equipment, software for optics salons and much more. BUSINESS PROGRAM

Dedicated and dense business program was traditionally held alongside with the exposition. The specialists obtained new knowledge on a wide range of thematic sections when attending the calendar of events. The sciences of vision have progressed a lot in recent years thanks to the numerous research works and innovations made in the materials. This new knowledge has led to significant changes in the methods of correcting vision defects, prescriptions and the development of equipment.

BUSINESS FORUM

Representatives of ArtOptics held a seminar within the frames of the Business forum where they talked about the use of Perifocal lenses in optometric practice, including their optical and functional advantages in comparison with multisegment lenses.

Another seminar was organized by the manufacturer of contact lenses SkyOptix laboratory. Issues related to the diversity of orthokeratology types; integration of orthokeratology into existing business; commercialization of the orthokeratology business using digital tools were considered within the frames of the seminar.

The seminar held by Yakutina E. N., trainer of the International Business School Strategist, General Director Market Assistance Group, became of special interest for the attendees. The speaker told about an optical enterprise growth strategy and what first steps should be undertaken by an optician to start business. Besides the forum hosted the presentation of the new book by E. N. Yakutina Optical Enterprise Marketing hot off the press.

V SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE ON CHILDREN'S OPHTHALMOLOGY AND OPTOMETRY KIDS VISION

The anniversary V scientific conference on children's ophthalmology and optometry KIDS VISION was held within the frames of the fair. The interim results of the summer charity action Glasses for Children with Rare Genetic Diseases which formed the integral part of the Kids Vision project were announced at the conference.

The action took place June 1 to August 15, 2021. During the three summer months, children with genetic diseases aniridia, albinism and achromatopsia received new corrective and sunglasses as a gift. In total, over the summer, the philanthropists managed to help 177 children, and another 27 will receive help in October.

Optics Gallery, Optics City, Akademoptika, -the exclusive distributor of spectacle lenses of the French manufacturer BBGR, Russian division of the international optical company Opticus, Key Optical Russia, Leglama, Medstar NPF; and new partners - Mondottica, Eyelevel, New Line and Rodenstock Rus rendered support to the project.

The co-organizer of the action was MOO MCP Raduzhka with the participation of the Aniridia Center of the Pediatric Department of the Central Research Bureau of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The partners of the charitable foundation Kids Vision are Crocus Expo and Market Assistant Group.

The program of the V scientific conference Kids Vision featured a number of various educational and scientific events for the professionals of the optical industry.

Among the topics that were considered at the conference, the problem of myopia occupied a predominant place. U.V. Diadina, ophthalmologist, PhD in medicine, director of educational programs Hoya Lens Rus, introduced an innovative myopia controlling method with Hoya MiYOSMART spectacle lenses. M. A. Trubilina, PhD in medicine, Director General of the Professor Trubilins Family Ophthalmology Clinic, highlighted in her lecture the practical experience of using the innovative myopia controlling method - MiYOSMART spectacle lenses.

Besides the section Rare Eye Diseases and Poor Vision with participation of outstanding scientists and practitioners was organized within the frames of the project. Poor vision area offers opticians and other professionals the opportunity to improve their knowledge of this topic, along with practical and useful information to help tackle one of todays major health problems. In particular, S. E. Kondratova, ophthalmologist, researcher at the Research Institute of Pediatrics and Child Health of the Central Clinical Hospital of the Russian Academy of Sciences, chief physician of the Center for Optical Correction of Vision Academoptics, spoke at the conference.

Issues of screening binocular disorders, the use of scleral lenses and accreditation of optometrists were discussed at the Kids Vision conference. N.V. Rinskaya, master of optometry, specialist in binocular disorders, author of the Optometrists Handbook, spoke about screening binocular disorders.

SPECIAL PROJECTS

A new project Kindness Glasses, organized in joint efforts with the Kids Vision charitable foundation, was for the first time held within MIOF frames. The organizers arranged the collection of glasses to be handed over to poor people or those who were in a difficult life situation. Any visitor could bring second hand no longer used glasses to the exhibition and donate them and representatives of optical salons could take illiquid goods from their stocks, bring them to the exhibition and put in a special container. The charitable foundation Kids Vision NPO handed over the collected during the action glasses directly to official associations of patients with vision diseases, optics stores and medical clinics through which glasses would be distributed among patients.

It was also announced about the commence of applications acceptance for the national tender on participation in the contest for the Russian National Award Golden Lorgnette 2021 in the optical industry for achievements in the field of new technologies promotion, sight protection and professional service of the population, which would be culminated by the Awarding Ceremony within the spring edition of the trade fair. Deadline for applications is November 01, 2020. The application can be submitted in the personal account at the award website.

VISITORS

A wide professional audience attended MIOF trade fair: owners and managers of optical chains and salons; marketers, heads of sales and promotion departments of optical salons; buyers and specialists responsible for the formation of the assortment; ophthalmologists and optometrists.

The number of specialists - representatives of wholesale and retail companies, owners of optical products trading platforms, ophthalmologists who visited the 29th Moscow International Optical Fair- amounted to more than 3,000 people.

The total number of attendees at the Kids Vision conference and Business forum exceeded 500 people. Among them, about 10% of newcomers, are those who decided to start up a new business by opening their own optics stores. Thus, MIOF has become for them a guide to the world of the optical industry.

The award is designed to recognize the most important individuals and companies in the optical industry for providing excellent service, fostering innovation and spreading awareness of the optical industry. The organizers of the contest are Crocus Expo, MIOF Management Office and Market Assistant Group, the contest was supported by the Ministry of Healthcare of Russia.

Participation in the trade fair provided a unique opportunity to present a company and products to a distinctly selected targeted audience of industry specialists. They were well prepared to discuss business in the Russian market and to close a deal on-site.

For the first in the MIOF history, the Hong Kong Optical Manufacturers Association (HKOMA) in cooperation with the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) organized the pavilion of the Hong Kong Eyewear Good Design project, which united more than 30 exhibitors from China. Only those exhibitors, who meet strict international criteria, have been selected to participate in the project aimed to promote Hong Kong's best optical designers and companies. There were brands already known in Russia, such as Laura Ashley or Big Horn by Kevin Ching designer, and new, equally interesting collections, such as GQ (Good Quality Optical Factory Ltd) or models of Cheung Sau Ki and Ho Mei To designers.

And even more SILMO Paris, one of the largest exhibitions of medical optics in the world, for the first time joined partners and participants of the Moscow fair as well. Annually SILMO Paris brings together more than 1 000 participating companies from different countries. The myopia rate remains high in the majority of countries of the world. The main reasons for this are a lack of physical exercise and the prolonged use of digital devices among young consumers. Several reports of the the Kids Vision conference were devoted to the problem.

A charity event for aniridia patients and albinos children with participation of the MOK-BBGR and the Galereya Ochkov companies took place within the frames of the Conference. New sponsors joined them in 2019: an agreement on rendering services in selection of frames and to the order of lenses for albinos was concluded with Optical Net, on distribution of cases for frames with Eyetech Optical and on handover of frames with Armati group.

A number of lectures within the frames of the Educational Forum covered certain issues related to technical methods of work with famous brands. The speakers told about innovative and exclusive optical products from the company Rodenstock, spoke on the topic of solutions from Nikon when you have a complex spectacle correction and others.

Traditionally in September the MIOF exhibition management and the Market Assistant Group announced the beginning of prepasration to the Golden Lorgnette contest. The organizers of the contest told about terms and regulations of the event and reviewed successful cases from the project participants. National tender on participation in the contest would take place for the sixth time and would be culminated by the awarding ceremony February 11, in the first day of the 2020 trade fair. The applications acceptance started with the opening of the MIOF 2019. September. Russian companies, joint ventures and representative offices of foreign companies registered and operating in the territory of Russia and working at the market of optical goods and services participating in the exhibition are eligible for the contest.

This year the 3rd scientific and practical conference on children's ophthalmology and optometry Kids Vision, sponsored by Galereya Ochkov company, will be also held September 10 and 11 within the frames of the trade fair.

The Gala Opening ceremony of the 24th Moscow International Optical Fair (MIOF) took place February 12, 2019. Lectures of representatives of eyeglass lenses manufacturers were traditionally held within the frames of the Forum: Louis Hue (-BBGR), T.K. Kuschel (Rodenstock GmbH, Germany), M.L. Petrukhina (Nikon), U.V. Diadina (Hoya Lens Russia) and others. The joint charity event was also organized by the Hoya Lens Russia and WorldVita, the Children’s relief Fund, within the frames of MIOF 2019. Spring. The 2nd scientific and practical conference on children's ophthalmology and optometry Kids Vision became the highlight of the MIOF business program. The conference covered issues related to implementation of the following tasks: distribution of information on protection of children's vision, preventive measures and treatment of ophthalmologic diseases; rendering of charitable help to children from underprovided families which needed a complicated eye treatment.

The fund raising was also intended for the opening of kids eye care offices, for charitable contribution to funds for support of children with ophthalmologic diseases, for creation and promotion of the National program of sight protection (children). A number of companies made their practical contribution to the program intended for children suffering aniridia (a rare genetic pathology): constantly checked aniridia patients, provided lenses for special eyeglasses production; provided frames and did surgeries to aniridia patients.

Speakers presented to attention of the audience the latest practices in the sphere of sales and management of optical business at the business and educational forum. Besides September 11 the lecturer from Italy Alessandra Salimbene, Charismatica Ltd. Director, Expophoto Cultural Association President, gave two lectures on digital marketing in optics.

The 22nd Moscow International Optical Fair (MIOF), one of the most significant events in the segment of medical optics and ophthalmology, ran February 14 through 16 in Crocus Expo and opened the annual calendar of exhibitions in the field of optometry, medical production and also fashionable collections of eye glasses and frames.

The project united the leading distributors of world brands of medical optics, representatives of chain stores distributing optical products (wholesale and retail), experts in the field of optometry, ophthalmologists, experts in the field of protection of sight and representatives of specialized mass media.

The Official Opening Ceremony of the 22nd Moscow International Optical Fair was held within the frames of the project. Participants of the ceremony:

Foreign guests have noted opportunities opened by the MIOF for new optical brands promotion in the Russian market and search of distributors by foreign companies for work in Russia on a long-term basis.

Exposition

The MIOF. Spring 2018 participants’ geography covered Belarus, Germany, Israel, Italy, China, Russia, France, Switzerland and Japan. Novelties and the latest developments were presented by national companies from 14 regions of the country: Moscow and the Moscow region, the St. Petersburg, Sevastopol, Vladimir, Volgograd, Vologda, Novosibirsk, Rostov, Samara, Smolensk, Tambov, Tomsk, Yaroslavl regions, Republics of Bashkortostan, Crimea and Mari El. All in all 113 exhibitors displayed their goods and services within the frames of the project.

The visitors traditionally saw top players of the optical market – Markolin-Rus, Optic Dias, Inveco, Avvita, Markiza Project, Megalopolis, New Optics and many others. Besides, new exhibitors annually join the project. This spring Visionix Rus, Vista, NeoVision, Pro Snow, Staylmark, REAL KAR for the first time participated in MIOF.

Business program

MIOF organizers traditionally prepared a highly topical business and educational program during which experts had an opportunity to discover sale increase technologies, explore the latest innovations in production of eyeglass and contact lenses, to gain new knowledge of sight correction.

In particular Martin Conway (Great Britain), world famous practical man and lecturer in the sphere of contact correction and scientific consultant at Contamac, FBCLA, FIACLE, made a number of lectures to the forum attendees: Materials for contact lenses – a look to the future, The problem of selection of CL for keratoconus and The selection of scleral lenses is a complicated simplicity. Martin Conway participates in world scientific conferences which take place in Europe, Asia, North and South America, the Middle East. In Russia the expert cooperates with the Moscow Scientific Research Institute of Eye Diseases named after Helmholtz.

The IV Gala Awarding Ceremony for the winners of the Golden Lorgnette Contest took place February 14, 2018. The award is designed to recognize the most important individuals and companies in the optical industry for providing excellent service, fostering innovation and spreading awareness of the branch. 27 enterprises participated in the contest (98 applications from 47 entities totally).

Visitors, representatives of wholesale and retail companies, ophthalmologists and businessmen, not only saw products and services offered by top players of the optical market (Marcolin-Rus, Optic Días, Inveco, Avvita, Megalopolis, Markisa Project, New Optica and many others), but got acquainted with MIOF debutants (Einar Group LTD, Franko Gaetano, Spunky studio, Optic System Trade, Optiland Eyewear, Opti-Tech, PRIOR Optika, Rebel EyeWear and Techno-Tape).

The Official opening ceremony of the 21st Moscow International Optical Fair took place September 19 at 12:00 p.m. The ceremony was presented by Serguei Egorychev, Director of Special exhibition projects Department. Participants of the ceremony:

The scientific and practical conference on children's ophthalmology and optometry KIDS VISION which took place in Russia for the first time became the highlight of the MIOF business program. The main idea of the event is a charity program intended for children from underprovided families which need a difficult treatment and eye surgery. The conference was intended on the implementation of the following tasks: distribution of information on protection of children's vision, preventive measures and treatment of ophthalmologic diseases; rendering of charitable help to children from underprovided families which need a complicated eye treatment.

The fund raising was also intended for the opening of kids eye care offices, for charitable contribution to funds for support of children with ophthalmologic diseases, for creation and promotion of the National program of children sight protection. Funds for operational treatment had been transferred to the first patient Mischa Rozhevsky. Besides MOK Company, SAFILO CIS, Lenses Hoya Rus have prepared a batch of glasses with a photochromic film and blueblockers for children with an aniridia (a rare genetic pathology).

MIOF comprised an exhibition of innovative projects and technologies presented by the leading companies in this sector, a special platform for the equipment demonstration, and a conference for discussion of such issues as economic efficiency of the companies during the crisis, technologies and solutions aimed at efficient use of resources. Participation in the trade fair became a unique opportunity to present a company and products to a distinctly selected targeted audience of industry specialists. They were well prepared to discuss business in the Russian market and to close a deal on-site.

Fashion Showcase, a separate exposition section, demonstrated vividly the latest tendencies in the eyeglass fashion. Besides attendees of the Mirror. The seminars were held by Ercole Renzi (Italy), an internationally acknowledged marketing expert in optical market. Ercole Renzi is one of the most famous lecturers and experts in the field of optical marketing and management in the world, a regular participant of international optical exhibitions and trade fairs, has a number of publications in the professional media, the author of a number of books on optical marketing and sales. 156 attendees participated in the event.

The Awarding Ceremony for the winners of the 3rd Russian National Award in the optical industry Golden Lorgnette for achievements in the field of new technologies promotion, sight protection and professional service of the population took place within the frames of the program. The award is designed to recognize the most important individuals and companies for providing excellent service, fostering innovation and spreading awareness of the optical sphere. Participants of the contest promoted their corporate image, products and services as well as created greater market awareness in the market segment throughout Russia.

The MIOF exhibition management office and the Market Assistant Group agency with assistance of the Ministry for Healthcare of Russia were the organizers of the award. Representatives of the companies nominees, participants and guests of the fair, representatives of wholesale and retail companies from Russia, Belarus, Germany, Italy, Korea, Turkey, the USA and France, more than 20 representatives of mass media gathered in Backstage restaurant.

The ceremony was presented by Serguei Egorychev and Elena Yakutina. Pierric Bonnard, Trade Commissioner and Head of Business FranceinRussia (Business France Russie) spoke at the awarding ceremony. Besides BusinessFrance became the official partner of the Golden Lorgnette National Award. 47 companies from all regions of Russia took part in the contest, 21 projects were nominated in 12 categories.

  • The Optician's Chain of the Year (federal) first award went to Optica MIO company.
  • The Optician's Chain of the Year (local) was granted to Tochka Zreniya optician’s chain (Perm).
  • Private trade mark award got Design Laboratory Sergey Makhnev.
  • The Marketing Project of the Year featured two awards: for wholesale and retail companies. The wholesale nomination winner became Alstima and Vista Optical projects. The retail nomination winner became KORD Optika chain (Kazan).
  • Educational Project of the Year – the winner of the award was Avvita Rodenstock Academy (Moscow) project.
  • The Partner of the Year was awarded to Market Assistance Group director Elena Yakunina for the company’s longstanding contribution to MIOF exhibition and Golden Lorgnette award development.
  • Best MIOF 2017 stand was announced OPTIC DIAS stand (Moscow).
  • The Personage of the Year (acknowledgement) award went to Mariya Trubilina, docent of ophthalmology department FMBA of Russia, for personal contribution to optical industry development.

Large distributors of the leading world brands of medical optics and specialized equipment exhibited at the autumn edition of MIOF 2016: 89 companies from 12 regions of Russia (Moscow and the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, the Vladimir, Volgograd, Vologda, Kaluga, Novosibirsk, Sverdlovsk and Yaroslavl regions, Krasnodar Krai, the republics of Crimea and Mari El) and foreign countries (Belarus, Italy and China).

Visitors, representatives of wholesale and retail companies, ophthalmologists and businessmen, saw not only products and services offered by top players of the optical market (Marcolin-Rus, Optic Dias, Inveco, Avvita, Megalopolis, Markisa Project, New Optica and many others), but got acquainted with MIOF debutants’ (Pervoye Atelie Yuvelirnykh Oprav, Opt Fabruk, Panfundus, Picasso Group, Vega Optika, Zvezda Vostoka and RUSPRODIZAYN) activity.

The number of specialists representatives of wholesale and retail companies, owners of optical products trading grounds, ophthalmologists who attended the 19th Moscow International Optical Fair made more than 3800 people thus the number of attendees increased by 31% compared to September 2015 edition.

The Official opening ceremony of the 19th Moscow International Optical Fair took place September 13 at 12:00 p.m. in hall 15 of the third pavilion. The ceremony was presented by Serguei Egorychev, Director Department of special exhibition projects. Participants of the ceremony:

  • Konstantin Oleynik, Megapolis company executive;
  • Alexander Shlayfert, Head of optical division of KruponHandelsGmbH;
  • Elena Titova, CEO Optic Style company (Vladimir), the holder of the National award of the optical industry Golden Lorgnette (2015, 2016);
  • Elena Yakutina, Director General Market Assistant Group welcomed the exhibitors and guests of the ceremony.

All speakers noted that the trade fair provided the perfect platform from which to preview new products, evaluate market trends, and establish long-lasting and commercially profitable partnerships. Despite the dynamic changes taking place in Russia and the rapid growth of the sector, the show continues to complement and reflect the industry’s demand and is a promotional opportunity not to be missed.

The contest for the National Award in the optical industry for achievements in the field of new technologies promotion, sight protection and professional service of the population Golden Lorgnette was traditionally held within the frames of the 19th Moscow International Optical Fair. The National Award in the optical industry is one of the most prestigious awards at the market of optical goods and services, equipment and materials, glass and contact lenses, sun glasses and frames, distributors and retail chains and also optician’s of Russia. The award is designed to recognize the most important individuals and companies in the optical industry for providing excellent service, fostering innovation and spreading awareness of the optical industry. Participants of the contest promote their corporate image, products and services as well as create greater market awareness in the market segment throughout Russia. The Awarding Ceremony for the winners will take place February 2017 at the next edition of the trade fair.

MIOF organizers traditionally prepared a highly topical business program during which experts had an opportunity to discover sale increase technologies, explore the latest innovations in production of eyeglass and contact lenses, to gain new knowledge of sight correction.

MIOF comprised an exhibition of innovation projects and technologies presented by the leading companies in this sector, a special platform for the equipment demonstration, and a conference for discussion of such issues as economic efficiency of the companies during the crisis, the companies’ technologies and solutions aimed at efficient use of resources. Participation in the trade fair was a unique opportunity to present a company and products to a distinctly selected targeted audience of industry specialists. They were well prepared to discuss business in the Russian market and to close a deal on-site.
